The Sledge Editor currently only works on Goldsource - that is, the Half-Life 1 engine from 1998. It does not work on HL2, CSGO, Gmod, or any other Source-based game.
Beta Build!
GMod is a Sandbox Modification. Using GMod you can pose ragdolls. This means can position people from HL2/CS/DoD and change their faces. A big comic book creating community has popped up around this feature. Using GMod you can build. Take props from HL2/CS/DoD and weld them together to make walls. Axis a wheel to it to create a working car. VMEX - a HL2 map decompiler. VMEX is a simple map decompiler for Half-Life 2 Source engine maps (i.e., for HL2, HL2DM, CS:S, and DoD:S). It converts compiled.bsp map files into.vmf files which can be loaded into Hammer. The.vmf files produced can be loaded to see how various mapping techniques are used in the official Valve maps. Then you could open the map file in the old Hammer 3.4 editor and save it to an rmf file which can be imported into the current version (4.1) of Hammer. EDIT: I looked into this method, Blender doesn't support the X3d format by default and the website that had the script to import X3d files into Blender has 404'd.
Sledge is currently in public beta, which means that there are still many changes being made and it will be updated often. Beta builds may be unstable. Gigabyte ga g41m combo audio driver for mac.

What is Sledge?
Sledge is a completely free and open-source replacement for Valve's Hammer Editor, with a focus on compatibility with the Goldsource engine. The purpose of Sledge is to offer advanced editing features from later versions of Hammer and other editors and make them available to all users, regardless of which engine they choose to use.
Sledge uses the same file formats as Hammer does (RMF, MAP, VMF) and maps are compatible between both programs. The editing process is almost identical to Hammer, the hotkeys are the same, as well as many of the screen elements and dialogs. Switching to Sledge will not be difficult for users who are familiar with Hammer.
